you can search for families in this site: www.aupair-world.net (i think its correct,its a very simple site). in some countries,for ex. luxembourg,an au pair job is seen as a normal job,so you earn the minimum salary,or atleast a big part,so dont forget to get well informed before you go to any country. 
depending on how long you want to be an aupair,i would advise you to do before  college.
